Suspicious Package On Orem Doorstep Was Hoax Bomb
Police say a suspicious package left on the doorstep of an Orem home was not a bomb, but was rigged to look like one.
Officials with the Utah County Sheriff’s office say they found no explosives when they examined the box that was left at the home about 5 p.m. Sunday.
Orem police told the Salt Lake Tribune on Sunday that the package was gift-wrapped and had wires coming out of it.
The parents and three children at the home were evacuated, and neighbors were told to leave their homes or wait in their basements while a bomb squad removed the box.
