Liquor Store Robbery Caught On Camera
Police are searching for two women who they say robbed an Idaho Falls liquor store. The entire crime was caught on camera.
Drinks and a show, as two female suspects hurled rocks through the window of the liquor store on First and Lee, making off with several bottles of booze in less than 20 seconds.
For store manager Janet Cozakos, this good old-fashioned smash-and-grab is anything but entertaining.
“They actually caused us more in damage to the property than what they actually get,” Cozakos said of the suspects.
Police estimate the damage to the shattered window to be about $800. There is also a massive stain on the carpet, where a bottle of tequila broke during the seemingly haphazard heist.
“It’s very ridiculous,” Cozakos said.
The burglars didn’t even go for the top shelf. Cozakos says the seven bottles of moderately-priced tequila snatched from the shelf — including two that shattered — totaled about $200.
But all ridiculousness aside, this is a felony.
“(This would be) felony burglary, breaking and entering, which is a very serious crime,” said Joelyn Hansen of the Idaho Falls Police Department.
Cozakos says she’s just glad she invested in those extra surveillance cameras after the last time she was robbed.
“We’ve added several more cameras which make it a lot easier to catch people, and it’s also a good deterrent,” she explained. ?We believe that (the suspects) will be apprehended real soon!”
The women are described as relatively young. One was wearing a black hoodie. The other was wearing a blue striped hoodie. If you might know where they are, (208) 522-1983.
