Motorcyclist leads police on high-speed pursuit

A short high speed pursuit has landed a Rexburg man in jail.

Rexburg police said Anthony James Weaver, 19, was riding a motorcycle on Second East when he attempted to race away from a traffic stop by accelerating to speeds near 90 mph.

Weaver was tracked to the Stonebridge neighborhood and arrested at his home. He was charged with a felony charge of eluding an officer and misdemeanor reckless driving. Police said Weaver is on felony probation and has one prior reckless driving charge on his record.
