Karole Honas to emcee banquet
A local advocacy group looks to send a special message through a special event.
The African American Alliance is hosting the 7th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Banquet.
The banquet will feature Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, a keynote speaker, who’s been named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people.
Local News 8’s Karole Honas will be master of ceremonies.
Organizers say keeping the event going year after year is key to keeping our community together.
“Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. believed in nonviolent change and about bringing people together and was very inclusive,” said Jolyn Thomas, who is on the African American Alliance banquet committee. “The African American Alliance is designed to build bridges that will lead to hope and understanding in our community.”
The Martin Luther King banquet is happening Friday, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Shilo Inn in Idaho Falls.
Tickets cost $35 for adults, $20 for students and $10 for kids 12 and under.
