Man charged with murder in child’s death

An Idaho Falls man has been charged with first-degree murder by aggravated battery in the death of a 16-month-old girl in December.

Idaho Falls police arrested Antonio Marcos Bautista, 20, on Tuesday morning on a warrant. He was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.

Officers began investigating the death of Esmiie Quezada on Dec. 30, 2012, after the child was found unresponsive at a residence in the 500 block of West Shelley.

She was taken by ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and later transported to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, where she died Dec. 31, 2012.

“Esmiie’s death is the result of acts by Bautista,” Idaho Falls police said in a news release.
