People vote against new library
The North Bingham County District Library will not get the new building they hoped for.
Voters turned down the bond for a new facility during Tuesday’s election. Proponents said the library needed a new building to accommodate the community more effectively.
The library’s director, Heidi Riddoch, said the current building is too crowded. She said, now the library will just have to find a different approach for funding.
“I think at some point in the future we will have to address bonding again and hope that the economic climate improves. Until that point in time, we’ll do the best we can for the people in Shelley and Firth,” said Riddoch.
Riddoch said contributions to a “Future Building Fund” may be a better solution.
