The Rexburg City Council has established a task force to investigate problems caused by the July 15 flash flood.

The effort will focus on the Palmer/Ricks and Hidden Valley subdivisions.

In Palmer/Ricks, the task force will investigate options to improve wastewater pumping, sewer backflow prevention, and prevention of future water flow issues including keeping trash out of a diversion ditch.

Issues in the Hidden Valley subdivision include options for watershed drainage away from homes, options for storm water retention, and ways to control storm water runoff.

The task force includes Mayor Richard Woodland and the Rexburg City Council, Cammie Muir and Todd Smith.

The task force will convene Wednesday.
