Filling the medicaid gap

About 78,000 Idahoans don’t qualify for Medicaid, and private health care might be a little too costly for some.

The community is coming together on Friday discuss health care. People without health care coverage are limited in their access medical services.

Stephen Weeg, a member of the Medicaid Expansion Work Group is concerned about the future for Idahoans.

“Fifty-four thousand people applied for health coverage through Your Health Idaho to get a tax credit to buy insurance. Unfortunately, they were found to be to poor too get health insurance and because Idaho does not use Medicaid to cover that population, they’re left uninsured. They live every day at risk of serious health care issues,” said Weeg.

According to Your Health Idaho, 85,000 Idahoans have enrolled in health insurance plans through the state health exchange.

If you would like to join the discussion, it’s a free event and starts at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Pocatello.
