Cox testifies in his own defense as manslaughter trial continues
The jury was dismissed around 3 p.m Thursday.
Closing arguments and jury deliberation should take place tomorrow, December 4th.
The jury trial for Tanner Cox continued Thursday. Cox is charged with voluntary manslaughter in connection to the May 9, 2015 death of Josh Olzak.
Thursday morning Cox took to the stand to present his testimony of the events that led to the death of Josh Olzak on May 9th. Cox said during his testimony that as the fight went on at one point Olzak lunged at him and fell. Cox said, “When he fell down it didn’t sound good.”
Earlier Thursday, Detective Rome Stiffler took the witness stand confirming a text message conversation between Tanner Cox and his girlfriend.
“No more trying to fight people k?,” the detective read aloud the text from Cox’s girlfriend. Cox’s response “I promise no more fighting babe, nothing. I’m done after this.”
On Thursday the court also decided to strike the testimony from the passenger in Tanner Cox’s car that night, Nickolas Arguello. Arguello plead the fifth to several questions in court on Wednesday.
