Crisis center funding no longer in crisis
The Family Crisis Center in Rexburg is no longer in a crisis. There was a scare in September about budget approvals and the receiving of funds.
There was a delay in approving the Federal Budget. This put a huge strain of uncertainty on the Family Crisis Center, which depends on funds from the Victims of Crime Act or V.O.C.A.
The main concern was that the funds from V.O.C.A would be taken and redistributed to other programs.
“They let us know that this was a possibility, and so at that point we felt that it was important that the people in our community that maybe depend on the services we offer, or work closely with us to help other members of our community that, that we let them know.. that at that point we needed their voice,” saidMargieHarris, the executive director for the Family Crisis Center.
Harris said that it has not been approved but it looks like they have a general idea of the funding they will be getting for the next three years.
