Investigation of Brian Mitchell’s apparent suicide continues
Investigators from Bingham and Madison counties continue to look into the apparent suicide of the man charged in the Tautphaus Park murder of Deraek Larson last August.
Deputies and jail staff found Brian J. Mitchell in his cell at the Bonneville County Jail early Saturday morning.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s office says the first stages of the investigation show jail staff did not have any indication there was a problem before they found him.
Investigators are still gathering and analyzing all the information from those were at the jail when Mitchell died, including looking at an autopsy and Mitchell’s medical history.
The Sheriff’s Office says it will release the official report and findings once the investigation is complete.
