Pocatello Kmart to close in April
Sears Holdings announced in a press release to media today that the Kmart location in Pocatello will be closing in mid-April. Until that time the store will remain open to customers.
The store currently has 65 employees. All of the employees will be eligble to transfer to other Kmart or Sears locations.
“Store closures are part of a series of actions we’re taking to reduce on-going expenses, adjust our asset base, and accelerate the transformation of our business model.,” says Howard Riefs, corporate communications director for Sears Holdings. “These actions will better enable us to focus our investments on serving our customers and members through integrated retail – at the store, online and in the home.”
The press release advises that if customers currently have a layaway contract at the store they will need to either pay it off before the store closure, or transfer it to another store location or the online system.
The press release also stated that a store liquidation sale will begin on January 24th.
