Students succeeding, love violin program
Art programs in schools have been dramatically cut nationwide in recent years, but with a grant and some fundraising a local elementary school started a violin program.
“I’ve always wanted to play an instrument,” said sixth-grader Dayton Robison. “But I never thought I’d end up playing the violin.”
In just the first year, the students at Bridgewater Elementary love it.
“It’s really fun,” Angeles Barrios, sixth grade, said. “It’s hard sometimes to learn to play the violin.”
“If they don’t get it today, they’ll get it tomorrow,” music teacher Jonathan Crocker said. “And I always tell them that a mistake means that you’re learning.”
