EIRMC hosting spring health fair

Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center is hosting its 28th annual Spring Heart and Health Fair Saturday.

The hospital will provide the following free screenings:

Heart risk assessment results, for those who had lab work performed at one of the four widely-advertised blood draw opportunities in February. No blood will be drawn at the screenings on March 5. Stroke Screenings and education Blood Pressure Ankle Brachial Index Glucose Check/Diabetes Risk Assessment Body Fat Analysis Advance Directives Education Breast Health/Osteoporosis Back Pain Pharmacy/Medication Education CPR

The idea is to educate the community in order to save lives.

“It’s a great time for intervention. it’s a great time to be able to speak with a health care provider to learn what they can do to lower their risk for stroke,” Coleen Niemann, spokeswoman for EIRMC said. “If the results come back they’re at a high risk we have a specialist right then and there that they can speak with.”

The hospital is expecting around 500 community members to come out. Any one is welcome and the event is free. It will be in the lobby of EIRMC’s medical office building, just west of the emergency room, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
