Opioid treatment facility opens in Idaho Falls
“It get’s bad, it’s a scary thing to see, it’s a sad thing to see,” said Karl Winegar, managing director of Idaho Recovery and Detox.
It’s something we’ve been hearing about a lot more lately, heroin and prescription drug abuse.
“It hurts our state it hurts our communities in both personal and economic ways,” said Winegar.
According to the American Society of Addiction Medicine, in 2014 opioid deaths stood at 10,574, in 2016 the number goes up to 18,893.
“Idaho is not an exception. in fact it seems like we are disproportionately seeing a rise especially in opioid dependence,” said Winegar.
The treatment process uses what’s called suboxone. Therapy is also a part of the overall process.
