Easter fun facts
The Easter bunny first came to America in the 1700’S. Since his origin Easter has become a big event for consumers, but how much money is spent across the country on Easter meals?
“Oh, I don’t even dare guess. A hundred thousand.” said Mary Zollinger.
“Like 3 million dollars, I don’t know,” said Cherie Gilmore.
The answer, $5.3 billion, and that’s without the sweet stuff. $2.2 billion will be spent on candy alone.
89-percent of people believe chocolate bunnies should be eaten ears first, but what about Marshmallow Peeps?
“They’re so horrible but I think people love them,” said Gilmore.
“I love the strawberry kind,” said Ariel Bangerter.
Take a guess, how many Peeps will be eaten nationwide over easter?
“Probably millions,” said Gilmore.
“I don’t like peeps but I know they’re popular,” said Brandi Bangerter. “I would say probably in the hundred thousands maybe millions.”
“Maybe 200 thousand,” said Zollinger.
Not even close, 1.5 billion marshmallow chicks will be eaten; that’s almost enough to fill a square mile.
However, children need to watch out this year because 81-percent of parents admitted to stealing their kids’ Easter candy.
