Fire at house on Holmes shuts down traffic temporarily
Update 6/10/2016 10:00 am:On June 9, 2016 at 1:49 p.m., the Idaho Falls Fire Department was dispatched to 488 10th Street for a structure fire.
Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the doors and windows of the structure. A neighbor reported that there was possibly a child inside the structure. While one crew located and extinguished the fire in the basement, a second crew performed a primary search for the possible victim. The structure was found to be clear, and the child was confirmed to be elsewhere by a family member.
Firefighters then proceeded to perform salvage and overhaul to extinguish any hot spots and to check for extension of the fire.
There were no injuries or victims.
The investigation was turned over to fire investigators to determine a cause, which is still under investigation.
There was no damage to the supporting structure of the house, and the smoke and fire damage is estimated to be approximately $20,000.
Original Story: Idaho Falls Fire Department is responding to a house fire on Holmes and 10th. The road has been closed while crews address the situation.
Firefighters have put the fire out and are investigating the cause. The fire was burningin the basement of the home. There was some concern there was a child trapped inside but the people renting the home returned as crews were working to douse the fire.
