Section of 17th Street closed due to fatal accident

Idaho Falls police closed 17th Street between St. Clair Street and Ponderosa Street to investigate a three-car accident.

The accident happened at 11:44 a.m. Sunday and at least one person is dead. Police report two other people were injured, but don’t have any information on the severity of those at this time.

One driver was treated at the scene but was later picked up by family said one witness.

Idaho Falls Police public information officer Joelyn Hansen said the driver of the gray car was spotted driving on the road side of the road.

“We are still investigating the scene. But the driver of the gray car was a female and we cannot release her name until her family has been informed,” Hansen said.

Everyone is advised to use alternative routes to avoid the area at this time.
