Found MIA Korean War soldier laid to rest in Shelley

Sixty-six years ago a family in Shelley lost a son who was reported “missing in action” in the Korean War. His remains were found just a few weeks ago and he was finally laid to rest Saturday.

Cpl. Charles “Blaine” Crofts’ only living relative is his brother, Kim. Kim was finally able to have closure about the loss of his brother so many years ago. The formal burial took place Saturday morning at the Shelley Cemetery, where Blaine was buried with his family. He was also awarded a Purple Heart.

“The military has been great in their service to myself and my family. And it’s just a good day to be here, and to honor Blaine, and to make sure that he’s finally put to rest,” Kim Crofts said.

Blaine was 19 when he was reported MIA. He would have been 86 this year.
