Madison fire department controls Moody Creek brush fire
The Madison Fire Department kept a brush fire from spreading to structures and farm equipment near South 5600 East and East 3500 South (Moody Creek and Woods Crossing area) at around 10:39 p.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters found a small area of stubble fields and 20 acres of sagrebrush burning when they arrived.
Chief Corey Child said the possible cause of the fire was a downed power line, but he said further investigation was planned Wednesday.
Winds also contributed to the spread of the fire into a nearby canyon. Multiple spot fires were also ignited.
The Madison Fire Department dispatched 2 brush units, 2 water tenders, 1 engine, an ambulance and 2 command vehicles. The Jefferson Central Fire District also sent a brush fire unit to the scene.
