Idaho woman returns from “Extreme Huntress” competition

Back in May, we first brought you the story of Lindsay Christensen. Christensen is from Weston, Idaho and was competing for a spot on the “Extreme Huntress” show.

Christensen recently returned from competing on the show and the episodes are now airing.

Christensen had been working hard for months just to make the top six women to get on the show. After making it on the show, Christensen traveled to Triple 7 Ranch in Hondo, Texas to compete.

She said she knew it would be tough, but there were still some unexpected challenges in Texas.

“It was really hot, really humid, and I couldn’t prepare for that,” Christensen said. “We competed in skills with all different kinds of weapons and hunted animals that I’ve never hunted before.”

Christensen said the competition may have only been a week long, but it kept the competitors very busy.

“We were up at like 4:00, 4:30 every morning all the way up until about 11:00 at night and there was so much stuff crammed into every single day,” she said. “We were hunting in the morning and night and doing seminars and skills challenges in the day. I mean, there was always something to do. It was a really intense competition over the week for sure.”

Christensen said she made some great friends in the other competitors and it was fun for her to learn their different styles of hunting.

Now that the competitors have returned home, there’s still one final stage before a winner is announced.

Scores from the judges and skills challenges are already in and will account for 80% of each girl’s total score. The remaining 20% will once again come from public online voting.

Christensen has been doing all she can to promote the sport and gain public support. She even held a booth at her hometown Franklin County Fair where she taught kids how to shoot archery.

Christensen said even though she’s not quite done with the competition yet, she loved being on the show. She said it was a once in a lifetime experience and a dream come true.

“Overall it was a great week,” she said. “I learned a lot, I grew as a person as well as a hunter and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

Three episodes of the show have already aired. Episodes can be watched at extremehuntress.com or getzone.com. Votes for your favorite “Extreme Huntress” can be cast there as well.

The 2017 “Extreme Huntress” will be announced in January in Dallas.
