McCain Foods plans Burley expansion

McCain Foods USA has announced it will expand its frozen French fry operations in Burley. According to Idaho Lieutenant Governor Brad Little, the company plans a $200 million investment that will generate more than 180 new jobs in the Burley area. McCain chose Burley because of its proximity to the best potatoes in the nation, a talented workforce, and state and local support. According to Little, the expansion will significantly increase the economic impact of McCain’s investment in southern Idaho by an estimated $560 million over the next 20 years. Construction will start in May and the new plant is expected to be in production by summer of next year. The construction portion of the project is expected to generate an additional 200 jobs.
