Pocatellans Protest the GOP Tax Bill
Outside of Senator James Risch’s office in Pocatello, protesters gathered in opposition of the GOP tax bill that passed in the House Saturday morning, standing in the 25 degree weather chanting: “kill the bill.”
J.D. Wardell, who is running for the US house of Representatives spearheaded this protest stated, “We don’t want the provisions of the bill. we want to do things that transfer money to the bottom, rather than transferring so much wealth from the ninety nine percent to the top one percent as this bill does, but to say, we demand an open and fair process.”
The protesters had a lot to say in regards to the bill, mainly that it isn’t fair.
Pocatello local, Cooki Ditto stated, “I’m hoping that even though it seems the politicians just seem to be gliding through whatever they want, i’m hoping that if regular people get out with their signs, that they will realize they arn’t fully supported.”
Another protester present, Georgia Milan exclaimed, “I think it is going to be transitioning a lot of wealth from the very needy, from the poor to the very wealthy.”
The protesters are passionate, and hoping that their voices can be heard.
Wardell concluded by stating, “This bill affects every single person, democrat, republican, independent, green party, it affects poor people, it affects rich people, it affects all races, it affects every single family in America. and everybody should be paying attention to this.”
