Fire crews battle fire in Banida, prompting closure of part of Hwy 91
UPDATE: 7/8/18 10:30 p.m.: The Bureau of Land Management is calling it the Oxford Fire, and says it is estimated at 200 acres, burning in the grass. The BLM said crews have a good handle on it now, but there are thunderstorms in the area still.
ORIGINAL STORY: Fires near Banida have emerged, prompting crews from Utah to assist.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Oxford Road from Highway 91 to Fox Hollow road is closed.
The Sheriff’s office also says that several lightning strikes in the area are what started the fires. Five crews from Utah, including Cache County and Newton Units have been called in to assist.
