Thousands show up for local company picnic

One local company is having its own fair for its employees to celebrate all the hard work they have done this past year. Employees and families over at Melaleuca put on its annual company picnic Thursday at the Melaleuca Global Headquarters.

An estimated 3,500 people were expected to be in attendance.

The business brought out inflatable obstacle courses, slides, mechanical bulls, horseback riding, and helicopter rides. There was also a dinner provided for the guests.

The management team says this is a way to say thank you to all of its employees and their families.

“It’s an opportunity to get together and mingle to get to know each other’s families and just say hello,” said Cole Clinger, the chief operations manager for Melaleuca. “Because really we’re a great big family, and it gives us a great big opportunity to pull together as a family.”

The company is also giving away more than 100 prizes to employees, that range from resort vacations to televisions.

The picnic will go on until 8 p.m. Thursday night.
