Idaho Falls’ first cornhole tournament takes place

People gathered at Freeman Park in Idaho Falls for the city’s first cornhole tournament.

There were about 10 teams signed up to participate. If you’re not familiar with it, cornhole is the game where you toss bean bags onto a board across from you, hoping to either get it in the hole or on the board. There was a grand prize of $100. The event was put on by the Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation Department and the restaurant, Pachangas, as a way to get people outside and playing a fun game.

“We’re always looking for alternative recreation programs that serve other people besides those that want to play on a court or use a ball,” said Chris Horsley, recreation supervisor for Idaho Falls Parks and Rec. “And we also are trying to program for older adults as well. So, it’s just a really popular backyard game that we feel would go.”
