Idaho delegation responds to funding deal
The Idaho Congressional delegation has issued statements regarding the federal government funding deal.
Senator Mike Crapo:
“I support the agreement announced today to reopen government and restore security to federal workers at our national installations. We need to take advantage of this agreement timeframe to come to a long-term solution about securing our southern border.”
Senator Jim Risch:
“Government shutdowns are never the answer, so I will of course support the President’s proposal to open the government while negotiations continue, but over the next three weeks I will continue to advocate for sufficient security measures and a wall along our nation’s southern border.”
For several years and again earlier this month, Risch cosponsored the End Government Shutdowns Act, legislation that would permanently prevent the federal government from shutting down, ensuring that essential government services aren’t disrupted and protecting taxpayers who must bear the resulting cost. Risch has consistently supported this bill since taking office.
And, Second District Congressman Mike Simpson:
“I applaud the decision to end the temporary government shutdown. My message has remained consistent – when we come together and put partisan disputes aside, we can begin to govern in a way that will make the American people proud. I remain committed to finding a long term solution for funding for the rest of the fiscal year including appropriate border security measures.”
