KSEI celebrates 92 years on air with new trasmitter

East Idaho’s first radio station, KSEI AM 930, is celebrating its 92nd year on the air with some improvements.

As a way to celebrate, station owner Paul Anderson purchased a new transmitter.

“When you have a station that has a lot of old heritage equipment, it wears out and it’s just a constant upgrade,” Anderson explained. “But the new technology is much more energy efficient and it will improve our coverage and the audio quality, the fidelity, is superb.”

The station, which was founded by a group of Pocatello businessmen in 1927, is now owned and operated by Anderson, who owns all of the Pocatello based commercial stations.

Anderson has worked in Pocatello based radio since 1986 and still enjoys every day at the office.

“It’s all fun still,” he said. “I’ve been here for over 33 years. I’m not going anywhere.”

Anderson doesn’t currently have any plans to celebrate the station’s 100th year but joked that he “better start planning.”
