Portneuf Medical Center awarded for acute stroke care
Portneuf Medical Center is being recognized for its acute stroke care.
The medical center was awarded by the University of Utah for having the lowest average time to treatment. The regional average is 90 minutes and beyond, Portneuf’s quarterly average was 71 minutes.
“Portneuf is clearly leading the pack with all our stroke centers,” Safdar Ansari, MD, of the University of Utah said.
Out of 28 hospitals, Portneuf’s time was the best.
The center is grateful for the recognition, but Chief Medical Officer Dan Snell, MD, said it probably means more to those receiving treatment.
“It’s not so much what it means about Portneuf, but it’s what it means for the people of Pocatello,” Snell said.
“It is just an amazing opportunity for us to take greater care of our patients, we’ve got a great facility here, we take care of very complicated things here.”
