‘He is Risen, Alleluia!’: Easter cantata to be performed
A big musical performance is coming this Easter Sunday evening.
The Easter cantata, “He is Risen, Alleluia” is being presented by four Ammon stakes with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
It is a 75-voice choir with narration. Ammon locals Jerry Clark composed the music and Jerrie Guymon wrote the narrative.
KIDK Eyewitness News 3 anchor Todd Kunz talked with the conductor, Ray Johnson, who is also from Ammon, about this production, and he said it accurately depicts the events surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to have conducted it for the last five or six times and it’s one of my favorite pieces of music to conduct. It is not the amateurish kind of music that you might expect as being written by local people. It is a first-class piece of music. It really is,” said Johnson.
The cantata is being performed Easter Sunday at 7 p.m. at the LDS Stake Center building at 2055 Coronado Street in Idaho Falls. This is just north of Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
It is open to everyone.
