“Idaho Gives” hits donation goal

589 Idaho non-profit organizations received more than $1.9 million in donations during the 24-hour online “Idaho Gives” campaign Thursday.

Organizers said 11,906 Idahoans donated money to their favorite organizations, exceeding a $1.7 million campaign goal.

According to early accounts, the Idaho Humane Society was the big winner, collecting more than $159,600. The Humane Society also attracted the most unique donors. The Peregrine Fund, World Center for Birds of Prey was second at $79,525.

“We are absolutely blown away by the generosity of Idahoans and are so excited for our nonprofits across the state,” said Idaho Nonprofit Center President and CEO Amy Little. “It also feels pretty good to have exceeded our fundraising goal, which we couldn’t have done without the support of our donors, community, media partners, underwriters, award pool donors, volunteers, and the Idaho Nonprofit Center staff.”

More than 60 nonprofits also benefited from prize drawings throughout the day.
