Lions Club to host yearly Thanksgiving dinner in St. Anthony
ST. ANTHONY, Idaho (KIFI) - More than 25-years-ago, a restaurant in Ashton decided to open its doors to the community and hold a Thanksgiving dinner.Â
After a few years, they couldn't do it anymore.
Shortly after, the St. Anthony and Ashton Lions Clubs took over.Â
And after all these years, they've continued to keep the spirit of the event alive. They are inviting everyone to be their guest this year for Thanksgiving.
The dinner typically will host more than 500 people. Members of the Lions Club share, they will have more than enough food for everyone.
"I'm glad to be invited or have joined the lions. And my husband and I are very happy to help the community because it is something so, so needed," Kathy Scafe said.
"My love for the club that I'm in and for the people that we serve it just seeing the smiles and the warmth. Well, you don't, you know, of course, don't see the warmth, but you see the smiles on their face. And people are just so happy to be there. It's it's an amazing feeling to be part of that and knowing that we're helping others, it's absolutely fantastic," Cheri Galloway said.
This year's dinner will be at South Fremont Junior High School located at 550 North and 1st West in St. Anthony. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.Â
There will also be other dinners across the region.
One will be at the Elks Lodge at 640 East Elva Street in Idaho Falls.Â
In Pocatello, the Aid for Friends and Refuge Shelters will be hosting a dinner.Â
Senior Iguanas and Porta Vierta in Pocatello will also be hosting a dinner.Â
