Victims Of Idaho Airplane Crash Identified

Canyon County authorities have released the names of a California couple killed when their home-built airplane crashed in a field off the end of the Caldwell runway over the weekend.

Coroner Vicki DeGeus-Morris says the victims were 69-year-old James Veatch of Clayton, Calif., and his wife, Sheila, who is 68.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregory says the single-engine Kitfox-7 aircraft crashed at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Caldwell airport manager Rob Oates says he believes the Veatches were in Idaho for the Kitfox fly-in held at the Homedale airport over the weekend. He said it appeared the aircraft lost power almost immediately after takeoff.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are still investigating the cause of the crash.
