Hinder Kicks Off Three Nights Of Fair Concerts
Wednesday was day 5 at the Eastern Idaho State Fair, but it was the first night of major concerts.
Rock band Hinder kicked it all off in the grandstands.
Earlier in the day, we caught up with fair managers to find out what fairgoers can expect for Thursday and Friday.
The microphones were checked, the stage was up, and the bands were ready to rock
Fair manager Brandon Bird said between Hinder, Allstar Weekend and Ronnie Dunn, he couldn’t have asked for a better lineup.
“Allstar Weekend is reaching a demographic we usually don’t target, and we’re excited for what that brings,” said Bird. “I’ve been surprised at how old some of the fans are.”
Ronnie Dunn, half of legendary country duo Brooks and Dunn, promises classic hits, and is expected to look and sound even better, said Bird, thanks to two new LED screens and upgraded audio equipment.
“The sound system is going to rock those grandstands,” said Bird.
But the real question is, will the 7,500 seats in those grandstands be full?
“Ticket sales have been brisk. (It’s been) a strong week. Signs of the economy definitely slowed advance ticket sales,” said Bird. “But the day of the tractor pull, 1,500 tickets were sold the day of. That’s amazing, and we expect that with concerts, too.”
There’s even a special deal to see Disney sensation Allstar Weekend. The “Rock and Ride” is a first in fair history.
“Meet the band, ride on rides all day long, go see the concert for a mere $30,” said Bird. “It’s a bargain beyond bargains.”
Hinder performed Wednesday night. Allstar Weekend will take the stage on Thursday, followed by Ronnie Dunn on Friday night.
Managers recommend buying online ahead of time to avoid the lines, but fairgoers can buy them at the box office the day of, right up until the shows.
