More Wyoming Schools To Get High-Speed Access

Many more Wyoming public school students will enjoy faster Internet connections thanks to a new contract the state has worked out with the CenturyLink phone company.

Gov. Matt Mead announced Thursday that 13 Wyoming towns and cities will have Ethernet capability installed for use in schools.

The towns and cities are Laramie, Rawlins, Rock Springs, Jackson, Riverton, Lander, Cody, Douglas, Gillette, Buffalo and Sheridan, Glenrock and Green River. Cheyenne and Casper already have high-speed broadband access.

Currently, 27 percent of Wyoming public school students have high-speed access. The contract with CenturyLink will increase that to about 75 percent.

Mead says he will continue working to bring high-speed Internet access to all Wyoming schools.
