Allstate Insurance Opens New Call Center In Chubbuck

A big company now boasts a huge presence in eastern Idaho.

For awhile, it had the code name “Domus” and eventually we found out it was actually Allstate Insurance opening a massive call center in Chubbuck.

Our cameras were at the ribbon cutting for the new facility Tuesday. Gov. Butch Otter was on hand to do the honors.

The facility means 500 new jobs for the region, and those positions should all be filled through 2012.

The center is expansive, with a sea of customer service and insurance claim adjuster desks.

“I just have to tell you that, these things just don’t happen on accident,” said Otter. “You got to have the local folks who have a great enthusiasm to watch their own economy and their own citizens and their own community prosper and grow.”

Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad also spoke to the large crowd of community members and several of the first generation of the new center’s employees.

“Allstate saw something that a lot of people have not seen,” he said.

He added, a large amount of teamwork from members of the community was necessary to facilitate the company coming to the region.

One of the center’s first employees, Kelli Meyer walked our camera through the halls to her already personalized new desk.

“Just having an awesome employer that offers something that the community needs like benefits and good pay,” said Meyer. “That’s what’s exciting about having them in the community.”

Site Leader Jody Lewis, a Pocatello native, said one of the nicest things about the new center is all employee’s have their own personal workspaces.

“I’ve never seen a call center set up where everyone had their own desk,” said Lewis. “That’s one of the number one things employees ask for.”

The center will handle a lot of Allstate’s business.

Claims and customer service calls from across the county will come into the center in addition to calls to local Allstate offices on holidays and weekends.
