Poky NYE Bash Helps Food Bank
To ring in the new year, a local event is trying to bring Times Square to southeast Idaho.
When New Year’s Eve rolls around, many in the area head out to cities like Salt Lake or Boise for the celebration.
But the people putting together Idaho’s New Year’s at the Bannock County Fairgrounds said this event will change that and give people a reason to stick around.
“It’ll be an experience like nothing you can get around here. Nothing we’ve done around here has ever come close to this,? event organizer Matthew Harmon said.
Local talent will provide entertainment for the local event.
Bands like The Unread, Brody and the Outlaws, and Philo T and the Spud City Scientists will be providing the soundtrack to ring in the new year.
“Like Times Square, anyone and everyone goes to Times Square to have a good time, to see the experience and to have the experience. That’s what I’d like to see happen here,? Harmon said.
But the celebration isn’t just about giving people a good time, but also helping out a good cause.
“The best thing about this is that it is for the food bank. We’re going to donate half of all the proceeds to the event to the food bank,? Harmon said.
For each can of food brought to donate to the food bank, a dollar is knocked off the ticket price.
“What better way to help out than a big event like this where people want to come out and do something? Why not include the food bank where they can help restock the food bank after Christmas and get things rolling for the next year?? Harmon said.
