Man Wanted For Theft In Chubbuck Is Suspect In Stolen Vehicle Case

A man suspected of petty theft in Chubbuck has been named a suspect in an incident involving the pursuit of a stolen car.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said it was notified Tuesday at about 6 p.m. about a pursuit coming north on Interstate 15 from Box Elder County, Utah. According to the report the sheriff?s office received, the vehicle was stolen, and Utah law enforcement officials wanted their Idaho counterparts to set out spike strips to stop the vehicle.

A short time later, Oneida authorities were notified that the stolen vehicle had exited I-15 near Plymouth, Utah, ran out of gas and the suspect had fled on foot. The Oneida Sheriff?s Office said it was told to disregard the matter.

The following morning, the sheriff?s office received a call that a person meeting the description of the suspect from the night before had checked into a local motel at about 3 a.m.

The sheriff?s office said it contacted Richard Michael Quinn at the motel and confirmed he was the suspect Utah Highway Patrol and the Box Elder Sheriff?s Office were looking for . He was arrested without incident and transported to the Bannock County Jail.

In addition to his existing charge, Quinn was also charged with delaying and obstructing officers because Oneida authorities say he failed to give them his correct name.

Charges in connection with the stolen vehicle are pending from Utah.
