Flood Stage Designations Changed
Prompted by recent field work, Fremont County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service have lowered the official flood stage at three of its gauging stations near St. Anthony.
Warning Coordination Meteorologist Vernon Preston says the ?Moderate Flood Stage? on the Henry?s Fork of the Snake River has been lowered from 9.0 to 8.2 feet. He said moderate flood impacts start to occur in the St. Anthony vicinity near Keefer Island when the water reaches a stage of 8.2 feet.
The two agencies also adjusted the ?Moderate Flood? stage on the Teton River from 6.2 to 6.5 feet.
Preston said recent field work indicated moderate flood impacts start to occur around county bridge 2400 East, south of Wilford, when the river reaches a stage of 8.2 feet.
?Major ? flood stage on the Teton River will rise from 6.5 feet to 7 .0 feet with significant flooding possible between Newdale and Rexburg.
