Local Business Surprises Boy With New Bike

One local 12-year-old boy is ready to ride after a local business surprised him with a new motocross bike on Wednesday night.

Kaden Powell was riding his first motocross bike in his first race a couple of weeks ago, when the bike’s motor fell out.

Powell got the bike only after working hard to get his grades high enough to make his parents happy, so after all of his hard work, he was understandably disappointed.

His parents sent the bike to Ken’s Rec World to get the bike fixed up, but owner Ken Hitesman had something different in mind. With the help of several local families, Hitesman surprised Powell with a 2006 Yahama YZ85. Hitesman hid the bike behind a giant black tarp, and dropped it after having Powell yell, “Show me my bike.”

Powell said he couldn’t believe his eyes when the curtain dropped.

“I thought it was going to be something, like, different, like, my dad got a bike or something. But I was actually really happy and I kept bringing up my grades, and this is what comes up,” Powell said, patting the seat of his new bike.

Rick Morrison, the owner of the motocross track where Powell’s first bike broke, also gave him a certificate for a season of free practice and a free race pass.
