Main Street Buzz: Hidden Treasures
In this week’s Main Street Buzz, we take a look inside a Shelley furniture store, that for 10 years, has been drawing customers who are looking for special hidden treasures.
The store, named “Hidden Treasures,” buys and sells furniture old and new, from hard-to-find antiques to sparkling pieces still in plastic wrap.
The business was started by O’Dell Young, who also opened O’Dell’s Furniture in Idaho Falls. Today, Hidden Treasures is still family-owned and operated.
Bo Young is the third generation to work there. He said the store is always changing because new products are coming in every day, sometimes from close-outs or estate sales.
But, he said, the one thing that doesn’t change is the people, many of whom come in just for fun.
“And whether people come in to enjoy themselves and look around or whether they’re buying stuff, it’s them,” said Bo Young. “(They’re) the real reason why we’re still here, and then the friendships of course that have been kindled and that we’ve made over the last 10 years.”
Hidden Treasure is located at 238 South Emerson Ave. in Shelley. It’s open Mon. thru Sat. from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
