Island Park shooting suspect goes to court
The man accused of shooting his friend in the leg two weeks ago in Island Park faced his first court appearance Wednesday.
Jerrod Hillman sat in front of Judge Keith Walker at the Fremont County courthouse for a preliminary hearing. The victim was also present.
Hillman and his attorney asked for a continuance of that hearing for several reasons, including a new persistent violator charge coming from the state.
The charge, a result of at least three felony counts, can carry a sentence of up to life in prison.
Hillman’s hearing will be rescheduled for some time after Oct. 3.
