Natural gas customers to get billing credit

Customers of Intermountain Gas Company can expect a one-time credit with their natural gas bill in December.

As part of its Purchased Gas Adjustment, approved by the Idaho Public Utilities Commission on Oct. 1, the credit will allow Intermountain to refund an $11.9 million credit balance.

The approach will also allow the company to keep prices stable.

Currently active residential, commercial, and large volume customers will receive a refund of $.03877 per therm multiplied by that customer’s billed usage from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.

Frank Morehouse, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Intermountain said, “We are happy to be able to pass along these cost savings to our customers at a time when winter usage is nearing its peak.We anticipate ample natural gas supplies for this winter, and North American supply growth is outpacing any demand increase in the foreseeable future. This supply strength should help to keep prices stable.”
