Man arrested after being found in stolen car

Police arrested an Idaho Falls man who was sitting in a car that had been reported stolen from Teton County.

Idaho Falls officers responded to the 400 block of First Street on Thursday morning for a suspicious man sitting in a car.

Police said the man, Shane Michael Bentley, 32, ran from the car as officers approached. He was arrested after a short foot chase.

Officers searched the car and found a .40-caliber pistol, along with drug paraphernalia.

The pistol had been reported stolen from a vehicle on Whittier Street in Idaho Falls on Jan. 27.

Shane Michael Bentley was arrested and booked into the Bonneville County Jail on charges of possession of stolen property, grand theft (two counts), resisting an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, two misdemeanor warrants and one felony warrant from Bonneville County for probation violation.
