Man charged with rape in downtown Idaho Falls

Idaho Falls Police have charged Cory R. Caldwell, 43, with rape after an emergency call in the 600 block of Park Avenue. Caldwell was booked into the Bonneville County jail.

Police said they received a 9-1-1 call from a woman asking for help at 2:04 a.m. Thursday. They found Caldwell holding the 47-year-old woman down on the sidewalk and heard her telling
him to stop his sexual advances.

The woman was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after complaining of pain.

Police said Caldwell and the woman were acquainted and had spent time together prior to the incident.
