Woofstock fetches record numbers

The spirit of Woodstock came to Pocatello this weekend, but this time the paws were the ones pressing play

Bannock County Humane Society president Maggie Taylor said this is the most people they have ever seen attend this fundraising event since it started four years ago.

“Overall, it gives you a good feeling,” Taylor expressed when describing the music-filled atmosphere.

This is the first fundraiser of the season for the Humane Society, and the money helps fund the local nonprofit animal-based organizations all run by teams of volunteers.

Taylor said they are currently looking for foster families for these pets.

“That is our primary need. Responsible people that will do the job and the requirements that are with the job.”

She also said they rely on these donations that also go toward spaying and neutering the cats and dogs that come in.

Among other non-profit organizations in attendance, the therapy group Heart to Heart said these sorts of fundraisers also help therapy pets visit people in need.

Heart to Heart representative Jane Guidinger said they visit schools, nursing homes and even hospitals.

“Assisted living places that we visit, most of those people had animals in their lives but now that they are in a facility, they really can’t and so we provide pets for them to see again,” Guidinger said.
