Update on fires burning in eastern Idaho

The growth of several eastern Idaho wildfires has slowed.

Containment is at 100 percent for the 210 Road Fire, burning 5 miles south of Stanley. Redfish Lake Road is now open.

Although the Lodgepole Fire, burning 10 miles west of Challis, grew more than 500 acres Thursday, firefighters said most of the growth was actually due to burn operations, which will help prevent the spread of the fire. It has now burned more than 6,500 acres.

It’s now 5 percent contained, and closures remain in effect for select roads and campgrounds.

Sixty miles south of Salmon, the Papoose Fire grew by 105 acres Thursday. It has now burned more than 9,000 acres.

Due to the terrain, fire crews have not been able to reach the fire.

Fire crews are continuing their efforts to remove dry brush and other plants from area campsites to slow the fire’s growth.
