Canvas meant to honor victims, survivors 1 year after bombing

The Portneuf District Library will have a large prayer canvas available to sign Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The canvas is to support anyone affected by the Boston Marathon bombings last year.

The canvas is about as long as a car, with many different kinds of support written. This canvas is part of a larger event that individual states have been participating in. Each canvas is different per state, and some states have several, designed differently.

The cnavases will be sent to Boston, where they will be presented to the city during a Boston Red Sox game in April.

“It’s to show that when the bombs went off in Boston, it did nothing to tear us apart, it unified our country more,” said Kylie Brewer, a local woman who volunteered to get the canvas signed.
