Woman trains service dogs for a cause
Teri Pope recently kicked off her dog training service called “From Day One Service Dog Training.” She started the service to help people with disabilities because she has learned first hand — having multiple sclerosis and epilepsy — the benefits someone could reap from having a service dog.
“Once I got a service, I was able to drive again, I was able to have a life again,” said Pope.
Pope’s goal is to take dogs that people donate and train them for a year, before matching them with someone in need. Although she will ask the recipient for a donation at the time of delivery, the client will be provided with a dog whether they are able to donate or not.
“I know how thankful I am for the life that my dog gives me and the more people I can help the better,” she said.
