High school track star surprises team with gift

When Madison High School track star Rhett Jensen was granted a wish through the Make A Wish Foundation, he decided to use it in a unique way. Instead of taking a trip to Disneyland or meeting his favorite celebrity, he decided to use it to surprise his teammates.

“I’ve been waiting for this forever and it’s been amazing for it to finally come up,” he said.

Jensen is recovering from osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. He said he would have never gotten through chemotherapy without the support of his team.

“I knew he was going to be fine so I just had to push through it and everything would work out in the end,” said his twin brother, Ryan Jensen. “I’m really proud of him though. It takes a lot to put effort into something for people you don’t even know.”

The track team was given 10 new state-of-the art hurdles, in addition to $18,000 worth of equipment. Make-A-Wish said they wouldn’t have been able to make this wish possible without help from the Aluminum Athletic Co.
